Anastasia Samsonova is an artist whose practice has evolved from fashion photography to contemporary art and sustainable design. Working across photography, video, sound installations, and craft-based practices, she collaborates with charitable organizations and foundations. Alongside her artistic work, she creates design objects using recycled and repurposed materials, exploring ways to give discarded resources a new purpose.
Her work explores the idea of a sustainable society and the importance of fostering healthy relationships within it, with a particular focus on inclusion and the experiences of people with physical and cognitive disabilities.
Nature is a recurring source of inspiration in her practice, with the tree serving as a particularly significant motif. Her design work reflects a sensitivity to natural materials, resource-conscious production, and the relationship between functionality and the environment.
In her series of objects Mollusk’s Fragile, Anastasia explores shell-like forms as a metaphor for home, a place of refuge and safety, where every vulnerable body can find shelter and protection. Half of the proceeds from their sale are donated to an independent, volunteer-led fund dedicated to rescuing birds and animals affected by oil pollution in the Black Sea.
