In winter months, our skin has a genuine test its machinery to withstand - cold winds and dry air inside and the temperature keeping it constantly shifting can make it look sullen and dry up. It does not mean you should sacrifice on radiance.
Actually, even when the weather is the iciest, a warm glow on your face can be restored by a soft, radiant look of makeup.
I will discuss my own tricks and tricks to make your skin shiny, fresh, and warm all winter in this article.
1. It All Begins with Good Skincare.
The true luster is the moist skin.
I never even think of foundation without first prepping:
* washing (without bitter foams and soap),
* a hydrating serum,
a cream nourishing, of a more abundant nature,
* and a lip balm, I put on as I do the rest of my routine.
My Tip: Use your cream 5 minutes prior to makeup - allow to absorb. You will find your foundation goes on much easier.
2. My Ideal Winter Base - Blemishes and Defensive.
During winter, I will always use primers that convey glow and offer nourishment.
They produce that insidious glow of light-within and serve as a shield against aridness.
Pro Hack: Do not use matifying primers during a warm day, they accent dry skin areas and dullness. Rather, use foundations that provide light and moisture.
3. The Ideal Foundation: Light, Moisturisers, Luminous.
My rule is, that your skin must still be skin.
I apply a hydrating foundation and pat it into the skin using a damp sponge.
My Hack: See what happens when you put a bit of liquid highlighter on under your foundation under the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, and chin. It has a natural subtle shine that glows through your base.
4. Blush, The Secret to an instinct fresh winter glow.
Cold air will flatten your complexion, thus blush is a necessity.
I like cream blushes since they maintain that dew like healthy skin look.
Use it not only upon the cheeks but to a slight extent upon the eyelids,--this ruse at once lightens the face.
My Advice: Shades such as peach, coral, or soft pink are warming and give a just stepped out of the cold appearance naturally, healthy, warm, and alive.
5. Lips - Wet-1, shiny-2.
During winter, I will always gravitate towards hydrating lipsticks or tints over matte, long-lasting formulas.
Begin with a lip balm that is nutritious and apply color on top.
My Wack: When the lips are rough, pat them off gently using a blend of honey and sugar and then apply balm. It causes lipstick to slide around and appear perfect.
6. The Last Finish, Subtle Glow, No Shine.
I prefer creme or liquid-based highlighters over powder ones during the winter.
They are colorless and seamlessly integrate into the skin to produce a natural soft sheen.
Apply them to:
* cheekbones,
* bridge of the nose,
* inner corners of the eyes,
* cupid's bow.
My Trick: Add a small dot of highlighter to your wet face cream to make your skin look healthy and radiant, but not shiny.
Final Thoughts
My philosophy of winter makeup is all a question of care, comfort and glow.
Do not overload your skin, so that it has time to breathe, shine, and be moist.
Radiance in winter is not just products, but the way you treat your skin and the way you feel in your skin.
and, when you are full and warm, you will shine-- even in the frost.
