[His Love, it Felt like Ribbons] is inspired by love, heartbreak, and Roland Barthes’ "A Lover’s Discourse".

The project explores the stages of falling in and out of love with ribbons representing the connective tissue that conjoin the stages of intimacy. In addition to the Barthes collection, the work is influenced by my time studying ballet under the Royal Academy of Dance, Magical Girls like Sailor Moon, and my relationship with femininity. Shot on 35mm film, medium format, and digital, the series features a diverse all-female cast and crew to create an intimate, safe space.

Each girl is a fighter in the game of her own heart.
