Please tell us about the concept of shooting.
The "Clown" collection shoot concept explores the duality of human experience—how outward appearances often mask inner complexities. Through dramatic lighting, stark contrasts, and symbolic compositions, the shoot emphasizes themes of manipulation and hidden emotions. Models are posed to echo marionette-like manipulation, highlighting the performative nature of life, aligning with the collection's narrative of concealed truths behind a masked existence.
The visual style blends theatrical elements with a sense of entrapment, using stage-like props and set designs. Circular motifs, along with controlled light and shadow, symbolize the cyclical nature of human emotions and the constant tension between autonomy and control. The black background amplifies the white, ruffled garments, making the models appear to float in a surreal, otherworldly space, underscoring the tension between visibility and concealment.
Ultimately, the shoot captures the complex interplay between appearance and reality, autonomy and manipulation, encapsulating the collection’s ethos of navigating a masked life in a multifaceted world.
What inspired you?
The "Clown" collection draws inspiration from Pierrot, the iconic sad clown, representing masked emotions and hidden complexities. Pierrot's melancholic character, manipulated by unseen forces, mirrors the human experience of performing while concealing true feelings. The collection's dramatic black-and-white palette, bold lines, pleats, and innovative cuts embody the tension between joy and sorrow, freedom and control. Ultimately, the designs express the delicate balance between appearance and reality, reflecting Pierrot’s timeless struggle with masked vulnerability in a complex world.
How did your fashion designer career start?
My fashion career began with a fascination for the hidden emotional complexities we all experience, much like the masked world of Pierrot. The idea of using fashion to tell stories captivated me, where each garment could reveal life's dualities—appearance versus reality, autonomy versus manipulation.
Inspired by the delicate balance between joy and sorrow, freedom and constraint, I sought to reflect these themes through my designs. From the outset, I focused on incorporating symbolic elements, intricate hand stitching, and innovative fabric techniques to capture the essence of the human condition. Fashion, for me, transcended the creation of garments—it became a medium to challenge perceptions and explore the emotional masks we wear daily. This passion for expressing complex emotions through my work sparked my journey in fashion and continues to drive me forward.
What is your dream and goal?
I dream of using fashion as a powerful medium to tell stories that resonate on a deeper, emotional level. I want my designs to transcend aesthetics, challenging perceptions and inviting reflection on the hidden complexities of the human experience—the masks we wear, the manipulation we endure, and the delicate balance between inner truths and outward appearances.
My goal is to create collections that do more than clothe the body; I want them to speak to the soul, much like Pierrot, who embodies the dance between joy and sorrow, freedom and control. I aspire to push the boundaries of fashion through symbolic design, innovative cuts, and meticulous craftsmanship, exploring the interplay between autonomy and manipulation. Ultimately, I hope my work inspires others to embrace their true selves and find beauty in life's contradictions.
