How long have you been a photographer? What pushed you on this path in the beginning?

I started my photography career since last year and I put full focus on fashion this year. I have loved photography since I was a kid. My father is a professional landscape photographer and I followed him to many places to shoot. I was his camera assistant for years, so photography has always been a hobby throughout my childhood. After graduating from university, I went to film school where I learned filmmaking and cinematography. It was then when I had the idea of taking photography seriously as a profession instead of just a hobby. It took courage to make the decision, but I said to myself, “why not?”

Have you always wanted to make art?

Art to me - no matter in what form or style - always brings a value. It could be the value of entertainment, sales promotion or simply encouraging people to express themselves. And to answer this question, yes! My stance about art has always been the following: the creatives always deliver a clear message and bringup a value to the viewers.

Tell us about your favourite shoot.

Every shoot is my favorite because I face challenges and learn new things in every one of them. There was a beach editorial shoot I had this summer. We had all of our catering and belongings stored at a beach pavilion, which was an open space. Two seagulls first came to the pavilion occasionally, after we swayed them away, more groups of seagulls came back - I think we lost some cookies in the end.

What inspires you?

Films, music and people inspire me the most. I get most of my ideas and inspirations by watching movies, listening to music while showering and by talking to different people. I am always down to know new stories and perspectives and they never bore me.

How would you characterize your style?

I tend to combine filmmaking and fashion together. Every time I plan fashion editorials, I expect them to be in-style and story-enriched photo series instead of just gorgeous models in gorgeous wardrobe. I don’t mind some glamour of course - but I prefer to come up with a story. Directing models in a filmmaking way is also more efficient and fun. Instead of telling them to have a certain type of “expression” or “pose”, guiding them to improvise or to react to a given scenario could really help models quickly grab the mood and vibe.

What advice would you give to a beginning photographer?

Have a thick face and don’t be afraid of the shuttering too much and failing. I like to ask people’s feedbacks, sometimes people who are not even in the industry can give you very insightful advice and feedbacks. Just take the camera and start shooting.
